What is loneliness? Some people consider it to be a heavy cross, the others think that it’s time for rest and meditation, and there are even people for whom loneliness is the necessity. At the same time, the majority treats loneliness as something negative. Cast Away (2000)

Chuck Noland is an employee of the well-known delivery service FedEx. Chuck is a scrupulous practician and incorrigible pedant. As the man is an inspector of international departments, he travels a lot and has no spare minute. Once, a plane, he travels in, crashes and falls into the ocean. Noland, the only person who manages to survive, gets to an uninhabited island.

I Am Legend (2007)

After the invention of the cure for cancer, 99% of the population turns into nocturnal mutants. Doctor Robert Neville is one of those people, who remain healthy. He spends days, walking in the park with his faithful Samantha, hunting for antelopes and setting traps for the infected. But in the night, he barricades himself in his house, tries to invent a vaccine and does his best to get in touch with people, who are still healthy.

Gran Torino (2008)

Retired auto mechanic Walt Kowalski spends all his days repairing his house, drinking beer and visiting a hairdresser once a month. The man, who is also a veteran of the Korean War, doesn’t trust anyone, except his dog Daisy. Walt just tries to live the last days of his life in a quiet atmosphere. However, everything changes when someone tries to steal his 1972 Gran Torino.

The Old Man and the Sea (1958)

The Old Man is a Cuban fisherman, who tries to win in a scramble with a giant fish. If he manages to deliver it to the shore, it will be the largest haul of his life. This fight and its result from the plot of the movie, full of irony, sadness, and pride.

Lost in Translation (2003)

Trying to get rid of insomnia, famous actor Bob Harris, and young college graduate Charlotte meet at a fashionable Tokyo hotel. During their walk around the city, the characters get into numerous funny situations and get acquainted with the local citizens.

Into the Wild (2007)

The movie tells a real story of Christopher McCandless, a young man from a well-off family, who gives all his money to charity and becomes a trump. He travels around America, works at different jobs and gets acquainted with numerous people, who change his life.

Spider (2002)

Having spent 20 years at a nuthouse, Dennis Cleg returns home. Like a spider, he prowls in the cobweb of his memories, living through pain and fear again and again. Now, his native house looks more like a real hell.

Seymour Parrish is a recluse, who spends his life in a photo lab. He is a master of photography and his works are of excellent quality. However, his private life leaves much to be desired. The Yorkin family are his favorite clients, who use his services for many years. But Seymour is so addicted to this family that soon it turns into mania.

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

A lonely old scientist creates a human creature but fails to finish it before the death. A young man, created by the scientist, has scissors instead of hands and has to live alone in an abandoned house. But once, Edward meets a girl, who is able to see his kind heart.

Up (2009)

78 years old growler Carl Fredricksen decides to keep a promise to his late wife and sets out for a trip to South America, having attached thousands of balloons to his house. However, soon, the man discovers that he has a fellow traveler.

About Schmidt (2002)

Warren Schmidt, a retired insurance agent, starts to reevaluate his life, trying to understand if he has reached all his life goals. When he discovers that his daughter is going to marry a man, he doesn’t approve, he decides to set out for a trip across the whole country to stop her and, at the same time, find the meaning of his life.
