Phillip Rodriguez
THE TRUTH TELLER

Following his recent provocative documentary, Los Angeles Now, Which proclaimed the end of the Anglo century in L.A., Rodriguez —a senior fellow at USC's Anenberg Institute for Justice and Journalism— is turning his sights on to a broader topic.

In Latinos: Beyond Black and White, a four-hour series he is developing for PBS, Rodriguez, 44, will survey contemporary American Latino life in episodes devoted to origins, politics, marketing and media, and assimilation. "Phillip has a view of L.A. That is refreshingly free of glib assumptions and old stereotypes," says Jacoba Atlas, senior V.P. For programming at PBS. "[He delivers] a 21st-century perspective on what this wonderful, unique city is all about."
