If you are one of the 80s generation, you certainly spent most of your evening at home, and exclusively waiting for the American comedy series every Friday nights – like I did. Hey, it wasn’t even pathetic that time – that’s exactly how people spent most of their nights before the invention of mobile phones or the internet, and I must say that I like those times.
Well, enough about a blast from the past. It’s time to talk about the new upcoming comedy series starred by John Stamos, the heartthrob from the 80s. Yes, the man was a huge idol back then, almost the same as Johnny Depp (can you even picture it?). Well, anyway….if you feel nostalgic and you want to enjoy the same experience you’ve had before in the 80s, you can watch Grandfathered. It is a new series about families, which is almost the same as the Full House, the sitcom that made Stamos famous and popular back then.
Grandfathered was previously going to be named Grandpa, but the producers somehow had a change of heart. Fox decided to air the show and made that decision around May the 8th 2015. The series alone was created and written by Daniel Chun. If everything goes as planned, the show should premiere around September the 29th 2015. So far, there has been two episodes confirmed for the release, where September the 29th will be the pilot episode, and October the 6th will be the second episode titled Dad Face.
The main story is basically simple, but it is close to home. It is about a divorced bachelor who owns a restaurant and he just finds out that he has a son. As if it weren’t enough, he also finds out that he is a grandfather too at the same time. John Stamos is playing as Jimmy Martino, Josh Peck is Gerald (Jimmy’s son), Paget Brewster is Sara Kingsley, Christina Milian is Vanessa, Ravi Patel is Ken, and Kelly Jenrette is Annelise.
Some interesting rumors have been flying around about the series. For a starter, it would be very similar to Full House since most of the main casts from Full House will be showing in Grandfathered, such as Bob Saget and Dave Coulier. They won’t be permanent casts, but it is certainly nice to see familiar faces appear on the show again. It is possible to see Coulier in the upcoming random episodes, but we aren’t really sure about it – the story lines are still being developed anyway.
Stamos is definitely getting busy with his schedule, considering that he’s been involved in Galavant as well as Fuller House. The actor isn’t only acting in Grandfathered, but he’s also one of the executive producers. He’s excited about doing a TV show (again), and his involvement in the producer chair will help make everything better.
Paget Brewster (you are probably familiar with her from Criminal Minds) is also busy with her schedules. Besides Grandfathered in Netflix, she’s also involved in Another Period, another TV show from Comedy Central. The actress says that she’s hoping to return to Criminal Minds, but she just hasn’t found the right time. Don’t miss out Grandfathered this September the 29th!
