When a TV show has become so legendary and probably has been included in several best TV show lists, it is difficult to move on. Somehow the strength of the show is still deeply embedded into the audience’s memory, forcing the TV executives to do something about it.
Well, that what happens to the X-Files, apparently. Yup, who doesn’t know it? Even after so many years have passed, a lot of people still remember the show fondly. The combination of Scully and Mulder and the chemistry between them is hard to forget. Even after the TV show has ended and several big screen productions have been made, people are still interested in watching the show again. And TV producers and executives see this opportunity and decide to make the new X-Files series. The good news is that Mulder and Scully will be coming to your screen again soon enough, and they will be played by the same people.
Several things have been going in relation to the TV show’s comeback. After it has been confirmed that the Lone Gunmen will be on the show (again), Fox has finally released a new teaser of the new series, showing brief moments from the upcoming episodes. During Wayward Pines’ episode, the trailer is premiered, showing some dialogs from the upcoming series. The good news is that most of the characters will be coming back. After the Lone Gunmen: Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Hardwood, have confirmed their agreement, David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully) will be reprising their roles again, accompanied by William B. Davis (as the Cigarette Smoking Man) and Mitch Pileggi (as Walter Skinner).
For this new episodes, some stars have been plotted to appear as guest stars, such as Annet Mahendru (from Homeland), Lauren Ambrose (from Six Feet Under), Joel McHale (from Community), Kumail Nanjiani (from Silicon Valley), and Robbie Amell (from The Flash). Amell and Ambrose will be playing as FBI agents Miller and Einstein and appearing on the fourth episode – if everything goes as planned.
Although Fox has released the teaser, you still have a long time to wait – six months – for the new show. According to the plan, the new episodes for the new X-Files will be aired on Sunday, January the 24th 2016. After thirteen years being off, it seems that hardcore fans still have hard times forgetting it. For the new comeback, Fox has planned six episodes, and whether they are going to continue the show or not depends on the ratings and audience’s response.
X-Files first premiered in September 1993 on Fox and had continued on for nine seasons. It has created its own fan base and legendary reputation, from popular sci-fi based to favorite show on TV. It has been listed as one of the most favorite dramas. If you can remember I Dream of Genie, Charlie’s Angels, or Lucille Ball… well, X-Files can be included within the same category. It is no wonder if the show about Mulder and Scully investigating unexplained cases (while chasing mysteries about Mulder’s sister disappearance) has earned 5 Golden Globe awards, 1 Peabody Award, and 16 Emmy Wards
