Marvel has been busy with loads of film production and planning. As if they weren’t busy planning for the upcoming Captain America and The Avengers, they have already made plans for the new Spider-Man reboot. Forget the idea that the film will be similar to the one played by Tobey McGuire or Andrew Garfield – this is going to be a new different Spider-Man movie from different time frame too.
Unlike the previous films that seem more adult and grown up (Peter Parker has graduated and started off his career as a photographer), the new Spider-Man will be about Peter Parker as a high school student – where he has to balance his personal life with school chores – not to mention battling out social teenage awkwardness. And as if his life weren’t complicated enough, he still has this obligation as a teenage hero. For this time, Peter Parker will be played by Tom Holland and it seems that there will be a short appearance of him in next Captain America: Civil War. However, if you are waiting for a standalone Spider-Man flick, you will have to wait for 2017.
The process for this new upcoming Spider-Man is definitely not easy. Starting from the lengthy and constantly-changing casting process, a lot of names for actors considered for playing this role (including Nat Wolff and Asa Butterfield) have made the list and then be removed. And the fuss over the casts is just the small part of the complication. Rumor has it that there will be a new costume for this new Spider-Man. Afterward, it was claimed that the drawing and image belonged to fan art design created by Pietro Scola di Mambro, but later on, it was clarified that it was the costume that will be showing in Captain America. Confusing, eh?
Although there is no clear confirmation about the costume, it seems likely that it will be the one used for the next production, in line with the story. After all, Peter Parker is just a high school kid that has to make use of anything available, even for the costume. And the idea of using foot wraps and goggles for the costume seems to match the plot and the sense of realness for the upcoming movie.
Aside from the fuss about the costume, there are also some new updates concerning the cast. It is highly likely that Jason Biggs will be playing as Mac Gargan (known as the Scorpion), although it is a bit difficult to imagine that Biggs, known for his character from American Pie, can be a villain. Oh, well…let’s see how it turns out. Who knows? Maybe he can be a good villain, after all. And Billy Zane (from Titanic) is likely going to play as Adrian Toomes (The Vulture). Other names include Timothée Chalamet, who is going to play Harry Osborne – although he was previously considered as Peter Parker.
Well, anything can always happen before any official confirmation is made, so just let’s wait and see. If anything worth watching, I hope this new Spider-Man is going to be better than the previous flicks.
