If you grow up in the 80s, you will be familiar with some TV shows, including The Muppets. Who can forget such iconic character like Kermit, Miss Piggy, and others? Well, it may be good news for The Muppets lovers and fans as the show will be coming back again to your screen this upcoming season. Yes, The Muppets will be aired on ABC, taking the 8 PM slot. They are still fun and entertaining, but they may have adult contents and jokes too.
There is a confirmation that the show will be aired this September. However, despite the surface facial look of the similar characters like it was used to, there will be significant differences. It has been confirmed that not only the contents will be different, the elements will be different as well – considering the technology developments and such thing alike, it shouldn’t be a surprising factor. But the producers assure audience that the original vision will remain intact as they won’t do anything about it. Up for now, they have officially launched the pilot and some interesting things have already happened.
First of all, Miss Piggy and Kermit have released official confirmation that they are no longer being together. The decision wasn’t easy to make, but they decided that it would be best for both of them to break up. Although they will remain professional in working together, they won’t be personally intimate or being involved in romantic relationship. They make sure that they will probably see other frogs, pigs, or even people.
Well, it is a definite bummer, especially if you have been following those two couples since the 80s. After all, they are cute together! Back in my days, they were iconic couples that no one could forget. But well….live goes on and they probably have moved on with their lives.
And back to the show again, The Muppets will air on Tuesday, September the 22nd 2015 at 8 PM. The mockumentary will perform a show that will probably look like the combination of modern series ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and ‘The Comeback’. It is pretty logical if they use such combination as it is impossible to stay with the original idea that may not fit to today’s condition.
Aside from Miss Piggy and Kermit’s breakup, new lines of writers will be taken into the set. It has been confirmed that Bill Prady, co-creator from ‘Big Bang Theory’ and Bob Kushell, co-creator of ‘Anger Management’ will be the executive producers and co-writers. Randall Einhorn, known for his good reputation in directing comedies will be responsible in directing the pilot episode. He will be working together with Bill Barretta, Muppet performer, as executive producer.
Prady is known to have several experiences with Muppets shows, since he has written ‘The Jim Henson Hour’ credential. So don’t be surprised if Big Bang Theory will be mentioned within the new Muppets series.
Well, I’m excited about this new show. Hopefully, it will be as good as the previous show I watched back in my childhood days.
