Aquaman may not have the most important slot in Justice League. In fact, most people (including comic fans) don’t take him very seriously. Some of them even have this ‘cruel’ thought that Aquaman doesn’t have any significance or importance among the superheroes. But who knows? Things are about to change (hopefully) after Jason Momoa is done with his newest role as the King of the Seven Seas.
Sadly, Aquaman has been the target of jokes of many DC fans, despite his role, existence, and contribution as a Justice League member. However, things are about to change when the role of Aquaman falls into the hand of Jason Momoa, in the upcoming DC flicks – as a part of DC universe cinema. Rumor has it that Aquaman will have a short appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – just like other cameos in Marvel’s big screen series, but it is still unclear whether the rumor is true or not.
Well, it seems that Momoa has been determined to make his character serious – or at least considered more serious and not being the target of fun anymore. when he appeared at Canadian Fan Expo, even Momoa admits that his character is known as the joke’s punching bag, but he wants (and also determined) to change it. No more silly remarks or how unimportant the character in the world of superheroes. Well, hopefully, Momoa is able to change the current situation, but from the image tweeted by Zack Snyder, the director, it is even possible that Momoa will be able to create a more serious image of Aquaman.
After all, Aquaman shouldn’t be underestimated. Being the King of Atlantis (he has Atlantean DNA because his mother is the Atlantean princess although his father is a mortal human), his superpower is quite unique. Not only that he is super strong, he is also endowed with telepathic ability. Not to mention that being an Atlantean, he is able to breathe underwater, as well as commanding and controlling all marine life. Hmmm, that can be a pretty impressive and handy ability.
If the rumor is true, Aquaman will make his debut appearance in Batman v Superman that should arrive in movie theaters around March the 25th 2016. Aquaman will also be a part of Justice League flick to release in 2017, before his standalone movie (according to the plan will have James Wan as the director) in around 2018.
For now, Momoa is still busy in other flicks production. He is now in the middle of production of Braven, an action thriller movie directed by Lin Oeding. It is based on true story scripted by Thomas Pa’a Sibbett and story made by Mike Nilon. The story is about a logger that runs a peaceful life with his family in a Canadian and American border. But this happy and peaceful life is about to change when a group of drug runners find this quiet place and decide to turn this area into their working route. In the end, he needs to protect his family as well as making sure that this peaceful area won’t be turned into a drug lab. According to plan, Braven should be premiered during Toronto Film Festival.
